Santiago Mejía

Santiago Mejía was born in 1995 in Medellín (Colombia). He lives and works in Barcelona (Spain).

His practice centres on portraiture as a way to give shape to the invisible: the passage of time, the pull of distance, and the quiet shifts of emotion. Working across painting, sculpture, and photography, Santiago Mejía often uses the human figure, and at times his own body, to explore what endures and what fades in relationships, identity, and memory. Each work becomes an attempt to anchor something amid loss or transformation, to hold on in the face of change. Rather than offering answers, his work leaves traces of what once felt urgent, fragments of a search that remain open, inviting both personal and shared readings.

Santiago Mejía studied photography at the Zoomlab Programme in the Centro Colombo Americano in Medellín, and fashion & contemporary art photography at the Escuela de Moda, Diseño Gráfico y Fotografía in Barcelona. His work has been exhibited on various occasions in Medellín: in “La pausa” at Open Lab, “Todo a 500” at Bunker Galería, “Arte Circuito”, “Exposición General” at Café General, and more recently in Barcelona with the show “I am here” at Espacio 88.
