Florian Genzken

Florian Genzken was born in 1994 in Munich (Germany). He lives and works in Paris (France).

His work explores the production and perception of images and text, focusing on how meaning shifts when one medium is translated into another. Through painting, photography, and printmaking, it examines the transitions between various mediums and how subtle modifications can radically alter the message of an image or object. Florian Genzken challenges the conventions and clichés that dominate the depiction of reality, questioning not only how the world is represented but why certain methods of representation are used.

Florian Genzken studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and in Vienna (Austria) where he graduated with distinctions and at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, in the classes of Pia Fries, Christian Schwarzwald, Stephané Calais, Claude Closky and Michaela Eichwald. He was invited to take part in the Nouveau Grand Tour residency program by the Institut Français. His work is part of several public and private collections and was shown in various international exhibitions, among them: Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris, BRUT in Vienna, Spoiler Zone in Berlin (Germany), Villa Belleville in Paris, Space n.n. in Munich, UA26 in Vienna, Belmacz Gallery in London (United Kingdom) and Weserhalle in Berlin.
