Michele Bubacco

Michele Bubacco was born in 1983 in Venice (Italy), where he lives and works.

Growing up in Venice, Michele Bubacco was deeply influenced by both the city’s historic artistic legacy and its contemporary creative scene. His practice often begins with an ‘other’ image, such as a photograph of the sky or a spontaneous snapshot taken with his phone. Through an intuitive process of overpainting, he transforms these fragments of reality into layered compositions that explore the psychological act of perception itself. For him, seeing is never passive: it is a creative act shaped by thought, memory, and association. In 2009, he married Anna in Tuscany (Italy). He later lived in Vienna (Austria), where he deepened his engagement with contemporary art, explored the cultural nuances of the waltz, and developed a fascination for the many shades of beige, alongside a reflective interest in Greek mythology and navigation, both literal and metaphorical.

His recent exhibitions include: “Pittura Italiana Oggi” at the Triennale Milano (Italy), “nowiseebeesiwon” at Palazzo Grimani in Venice, “Love me 2times” at Song in Vienna, and “The Alphabet” at Ikona Gallery in Venice. His studio is located on the Island of Murano.
