Russell Herron
Russell Herron was born in 1967 in Essex (United Kingdoms). He lives and works in London (United Kingdoms).
Russell Herron works primarily with pencil on paper, mostly drawing pieces of cardboard. His works have been selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize, The ING Discerning Eye, Wells Art Contemporary, The Derwent Art Prize and included in numerous gallery shows internationally. He is a member of the Society of Graphic Fine Art. His work has been shown at London Art Fair as well as art fairs in Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong and Berlin. He is represented in the United Kingdoms by Siger Gallery and by Galerie Commeter in Germany. His drawings are in many private collections throughout the world.
His book “Five Hundred Small Cardboard Portraits” is the record of five years of work. From 2020 to 2025 Russell Herron drew 500 Small Cardboard Portraits; small drawings of faces made in pieces of cardboard. Originally offered for sale on Instagram, all 500 portraits sold and are now in collections throughout the world. This book brings together individual images of all 500 drawings plus photos of works in progress, behind the scenes and portraits in collectors houses and exhibitions. It also includes two essays by the writers Annette Fernando and David Risley and an essay by Russell Herron. There is an introduction by Herron which outlines the history and development of the project.
